CBC Regain Barry Cup
21st January 2015 By Munster Rugby
A blistering opening twelve minutes which saw Christian Brothers College score three tries, proved to be the decisive factor in this Barry Cup Final win over local rivals PBC at Wilton.
PBC 12 – 29 CBC
Playing with the aid of a strong wind in the opening half the Christians back line, especially their centres Harry Murphy and Peter Hyde, cut through the Pres defensive to end this game as a contest.
Their first try came on four minutes when full back William Trevor made the extra man to score in the corner.
On eight minutes Darren Lee scored their second try after great work by backs and forwards. Out-half Sean Lotty converted for a 12-0 lead.
Hooker Eoghan Cahill scored their third when he raced through the Pres defence following a lineout to score and Lotty’s conversion made it 19-0.
Their fourth try came on 21 minutes when again Trevor made the extra man to touch down in the corner.
Pres got some hope when a great break by substitute out-half David O’Sullivan led to prop Niall O’Brien scoring and O’Sullivan’s conversion made it 24-7 at half-time.
Three minutes into the second half any hopes of a Pres’ come back were dealt a severe blow when Daire Feeney scored Christians fifth try.
To their credit Pres never gave up but for all their efforts their only reward was a try by Killian Horgan.
