The Domestic season has commenced with Charity Cup games in Cork and Limerick taking place over the weekend.

The big surprise in the Limerick Sporting Charity Cup was Bruff’s 28-17 home win over Old Crescent at Kilballyowen Park in an exciting game.

Bruff raced into an early 15-0 lead but Crescent hit back with tries from Kevin Meade and Pieter Human.

Ronan McKenna converted both and added a penalty to put Crescent 18-15 ahead.

However, Bruff finished the stronger running out 28-17 winners.

Holders Nenagh Ormond booked their semi-final place with a 27-17 away win over U.L. Bohemian at Annacotty.

Nicky Irwin, Kevin O’Gorman, Peter Coman and Darren Wren scored tries for the Tipperary side and Irwin added two conversions and a penalty.

Garryowen defeated Shannon 24-5 with tries from Darren Ryan, Liam Cronin and Sean Rennison.

Jamie Heuston kicked two conversions and Andrew O’Brien kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Next week’s semi-final will see Young Munster at home to Nenagh Ormond and Garryowen will host Bruff.

The Cork Charity Cup final will be a repeat of last year’s final with holders Cork Constitution facing UCC at Irish Independent Park next Friday night in the decider with a 7pm kick-off.

Cork Constitution defeated Highfield 27-10 at Temple Hill with tries from Greg Higgins, Liam O’Connell and Gary Bradley.

Andrew Moynihan converted all three tries and also added two penalties.

Fintan O’Sullivan scored a try for Highfield and Jamie Murphy converted and also added a penalty.

UCC ran out 38-19 winners over Dolphin at the Mardyke.

John Poland, Richard Walsh, Keelan McDonald, Brian O’Mahony, Darragh Dennehy and James Taylor scored tries for College and Taylor kicked four conversions.

Cameron O’Shaughnessy, Dalton O’Shaughnessy and Alan O’Sullivan replied with tries for Dolphin. Ryan O’Herlihy and Cameron O’Sullivan each kicked a conversion for the visitors.

Holders Cashel defeated Sunday’s Well 31-7 in the Cork Charity Shield semi-final at Irish Independent Park.

Jason Newton contributed a try, conversion and a penalty to Cashel’s tally.

Cathal Ryan, Paudie Leamy and Sean O’Connell were Cashel’s other try scorers and Ryan O’Sullivan converted all three.

William Power scored a try for the ‘Well and Eoin Geary converted.

Midleton will face Cashel in next week’s final after their 37-7 home win against Junior side Clonmel.

Rian Hogan scored two tries for Midleton and Kevin Brierly, Michael Cronin, Rob Mitchell and Brian Moore were their other try scorers.

Stuart Lee added two conversions and a penalty. Luke Hogan replied with a try for Clonmel and Luke Noonan converted.
