Club And School Engagement Day Held In Charleville

A Club and Schools Engagement Day for senior clubs and schools was held in the Charleville Park Hotel last month as part of the Academy and Development department’s resource and support delivery programme.

Senior club coaches and schools coaches from throughout the province were invited to Charleville for an event which was led by Chairperson of the Professional Game Committee John Hartery.

The event had contributions from Munster Rugby Academy Manager Ian Costello, Munster Rugby Defence Coach Denis Leamy and Head of Rugby Development Colm McMahon.

The event acted as a follow-up from a previous club engagement day that was held earlier in the season in UL. A review of the current season took place with a focus on communication between Munster Rugby and clubs, particularly around the area of the release of players for club duty.

The event also provided an opportunity for suggestions to be made or concerns to be raised while future workshops were also discussed as were the coaching resources that are available to clubs and schools throughout the province.

Leamy conducted an excellent defence workshop for those in attendance where he explained best practice principles & trends/lessons from the season so far.

The main message delivered from the event was highlighting the importance of connections and relationships between Munster Rugby and the clubs and schools throughout the province.
