Sunday’s Well RFC are enjoying a historic season under the leadership of their first female president, Jackie Cashman.

Jackie was elected as the first female president of the club at The Well’s AGM last season, recording a momentous occasion in the 112th year of the club.

Jackie joined Sunday’s Well back in 2004 when her son, Adam, began playing with the U7s and was immediately captivated by the family atmosphere at the club.

She helped out with the underage players and soon became registrar of the youth section before taking on many different roles.

The next step for Jackie was to become a member of the executive committee where she contributed enormously to the running of the club.

Sunday’s Well PRO, Michael Barry, said: “It was obvious to everyone at the club that here was a person with something special to offer and it came as no surprise when she was asked if she would become our president for season 2018/19.”

Sunday’s Well have enjoyed a positive start to the new season in Division 2B of the All Ireland League, claiming a 20-17 victory over Sligo in round one before narrowly losing out to Corinthians 23-19.

The Well will continue their campaign at Irish Independent Park next Saturday, 27 October, when they face Dungannon (kick-off 2.30pm).
