Our latest edition of Club Notes comes from Cobh Pirates RFC.

By Richard McGrath.

What a super day of rugby we had last Friday hosting 230 children from the primary schools in Cobh for our inaugural tag rugby blitz.

The weather played its part along with all the children, teachers and young Pirates to ensure the day was fun filled with each team playing no less than eight games.

The eventual finalists were the teams from Gaelscoil Uí Éigeartaigh Cobh, but the real winners on the day were rugby and fun.

Thank you to all who contributed their time organising, setting up and officiating the games.

Schools that attended were; Bunscoil Rinn An Chabhlaigh, St Mary’s National School Cobh, Walterstown School, Scoil Iosaef Naofa and Gaelscoil Uí Éigeartaigh.

The majority of the games were refereed by the club’s young adult players including the club’s U18 boys and girls players.

Next up on the juvenile calendar is our Bank of Ireland Munster Rugby Summer Camp which starts on Monday July 24th.
