This month marked a milestone for Sunday’s Well RFC as the doors were opened on their new gym.
The ‘Well have been engaged on a major capital project over the past 18 months and when completed the development will house two modern dressing rooms, referees room, physio room, offices and of course the aforementioned gym.
Heading the project for SWRFC is former Club President, Sean Loftus, who along with Munster Rugby Chief Operating Officer, Philip Quinn, have entered a partnership whereby Munster Development squads will have use of the facilities under the guidance of Chris Coburn and Keith Murphy.
Club Captain, Conor O’Brien, recently gave Chris and Keith a tour of the facility and although a lot of work is still to be completed they were highly impressed with the work to-date and are looking forward to the first session with their squads this week.
The plan for the next six months at SWRFC is to complete this project fully before they host IMART (International Mixed Ability Rugby Tournament) in June 2022. This tournament was originally planned for June 2020 but we all know what the past 18 months brought us. But now under the leadership and guidance of club member and IRFU Chair of Disability Rugby, Alan Craughwell, it will be bigger and better.
