Club Notes WE 2.7.17

This week’s club notes come from Newcastle West RFC, who still have plenty of rugby in the off-season through their tag leagues and the upcoming Bank of Ireland Munster Rugby Summer Camps.

Monagea National School Sports Day

Newcastle West RFC would like to thank Tom Scanlon and Monagea National School for the invitation to help out on their fun day last Monday to work with the children in the school and provide a tag rugby game for all classes. We were very honoured and privileged to help out with providing three volunteers Brian Devine Ruth O’Kelly and John Hennessy. It was a great day and we were delighted to showcase tag rugby and have a lot of fun for all involved.

Tag Rugby

Every Wednesday night 19.30 to 20.30 there will be Tag rugby for people who are 16 years old and older we have had a lot of parents take part in this and have decided to keep it going as a social and fitness group. No experience necessary we will teach you along the way so come join us every Wednesday night in Kilelline Grounds.

We had 25 players last Wednesday night for tag rugby and had four teams on two pitches. It was great fun in the sun with some great tries scored, especially the ladies. It is great to see parents getting involved it been a great social and getting to the club members. We had a few new comers all the way from our near neighbour’s Abbeyfeale. So hope to see a few more new faces this week.

Munster Rugby Camp

We are hosting a Munster rugby summer camp for all ages from 4 to 12 years old you have to book on line for this. The camp will run from August Monday 21st to Friday 25th 09.30 to 13.30 each day. Camp kids learn from the Munster youths coaches and on the Friday meet two of the players from Munster. Lotto

Our lotto draw takes place every Friday night. It’s our primary club fundraiser and tickets are available from various outlets and promotors. Tickets are €2.00 or 3 for €5.00.
