South Munster U14 Plate quarter-final

Last weekend saw our U14’s take on Kanturk RFC in the South Munster Plate Quarter Final. It was a tightly contested game from the off with Bantry crossing the white wash first through the quick hands of the backs. Duly converted by the boot of Tadgh. Kanturk quickly countered with a superb run from a set piece by their No. 4. They also converted. Both teams traded possession for the remainder of the half with neither putting points on the board. Kanturk came out with fire in their bellies in the second half and quickly went in under the posts and again converted. BBRFC refused to be rattled and played their own game. They kept attacking and looked to be in a good scoring position on a number of occasions but were unable to cross. They worked phase after phase with the forwards making extremely hard yards and suddenly the ball got out to the backs and again Luke ran it and managed to cross. They now trailed by 2 points, 12-14.

Again they regrouped and defended their line like their lives depended on it. Again the forwards kept the pressure on and from a set piece the backs again ran it and managed to cross. They now had 1 minute to defend and keep the wall solid. They maintained their discipline and came out the correct side of the scoreline. Today there was a team on the pitch, the win came from each of them working for their teammate. It really was a brilliant game to watch and we are all looking forward to the Semi Final.
