Pig ’n' Porter 2016 – It’s Only Massive!
Pig ‘n’ Porter, Ireland’s Largest Tag Rugby Festival, kicks off at Old Crescent RFC on Saturday, 9th July 2016.
The Pig’n'Porter Tag Rugby Festival is Ireland’s largest and best sporting festival, held in Limerick every July, and this year the Festival is celebrating its 15th anniversary – pigs may not fly, but the years certainly have!
Old Crescent RFC will host the 2016 Pig ‘n’ Porter Festival at its grounds in Rosbrien, Limerick, kicking off at 11.00am on Saturday 9th July 2016 with over 120 teams taking part. The Festival is firmly rooted in Old Crescent folklore, with the added celebration this year of Old Crescent finishing top of the Ulster Bank League Division 2C!
The Pig ‘n’ Porter Festival will showcase the proud sporting tradition of Limerick to a wide audience and provides a welcome boost to the local tourism and hospitality sectors including accommodation providers, bars, restaurants and visitor attractions.
When the prizes have been handed out and weary bodies have had a chance to recover, the festival continues into the early hours with a live band – Whitewater – and of course, the now legendary Fr Ted Disco!
Pig ‘n’ Porter would not be possible without the generous support of main sponsor Bulmers, and associate sponsors, Bord na Mona, Keanes Jewellers, PBC Construction, Limerick Hotels Association, Shannon Airport, Davis Printers, Dennehy Motors, NKC Karting, and the University of Limerick Sports Campus who will be hosting some of the early rounds of the Festival. We thank them all for making Pig ‘n’ Porter XV a reality.
Old Crescent RFC is delighted to continue the Festival’s association with St. Gabriel’s School & Centre and we thank all Pig ‘n’ Porter participants for supporting this worthy charity over the years.
Speaking at the Pig ‘n’ Porter Festival launch today, Pat Monaghan, President of Old Crescent, said “We look forward to welcoming taggers and friends, old and new, to Rosbrien on 9th July”
He also thanked “our hard working crew of volunteers, who will once again be on hand to ensure everyone has a super time. Our volunteers are at the heart of the festival and their dedication has ensured the success of the Pig ‘n’ Porter Festival over the years”.
