Firsts travel to Fermoy
Our First XV travel to Fermoy for their final League match of 2013 this Sunday afternoon, and we would urge all club members in a position to travel to East Cork for this must-win fixture to do so.
The effort that's been made by our First squad, whose numbers, in an ideal world, would be much greater than what they are at present, has been enormous, a credit to the captaincy of David Kiersey and the players who are putting in the hard yards each week at training. Victory over Fermoy would put Carrick back into the play-off fringes and at a time of the season when the margin of error is now greatly reduced, victory on Sunday is essential. So let's get behind the lads this Sunday, who are seeking to build on their big win over Dunmanway-Bantry Bay. Kick-off is at 2.30pm.
Notice to U-14, 16 and 18 players

Hi lads. This is worth stating. You still have matches. Training is ongoing. There are fixtures in place between now and Christmas, including this weekend, which your coaches have notified you of, as well as into the New Year.
We recognise that there have been some difficulties this season in the wake of losing our co-ordinator in late September, and coupled with our current shortage of coaches, a regrettable situation which we, the Club's Committee, are now endeavouring to correct.
We have commenced a push for additional recruitment from a coaching perspective between now and Christmas. We know there's a lot of rugby know-how in our locality which we need to tap into with renewed vigour, enthusiasm and a much needed sense of fun!
As a club, we are determined to put in place a structure that supports all our players and coaches so that we can continue to represent this town and its environs at all levels of the game we love. But we need your input too.
So we need you, as players, to turn up for training. We need you, as players, to turn up for matches and to be willing to fulfil fixtures as per the rules laid down by the East Munster League, i.e. reduced 13 or 10-a-side matches. Those who wish to play must be given an opportunity to play, and that opportunity remains intact.
So if you, as players, can commit, to train, to be available for matches and to play, then we as your Committee, will provide the required programme for you, a programme which will be enjoyable, a programme which will be competitive, a programme which will be fun.
And we want you to enjoy the game and develop your skills in a Carrick-on-Suir RFC jersey. So let's take the next step together. Hon Carrick!
Munster 'A' v Plymouth Albion
Munster 'A' take on Plymouth Albion in the British & Irish Cup at the Waterford RSC this Friday. The club is running a bus to the RSC which will depart from outside The Old Mill at 6.30pm sharp, so we would appeal to everyone to make an effort to be in situ for the bus at 6.15pm. Tickets are priced at €10 for adults, €3 for juniors, with a family pack for two adults and two juniors available for €20. For tickets please call Sarah Moore on 086-1658580. A selection of our minis will be in action at half-time and there will also be a special presentation made to our Under-18 players who have represented Munster with such distinction this season.

Midleton 14 Sundays Well 22
On this historic occasion of the first League game under lights at Townspark, the Well get proceedings under way in front of a great crowd. Midleton take play into the Well half and are advancing but give a penalty that gives the Well a chance to relieve the pressure. Midleton are defending and another penalty gives the Well a chance for points, with 8 minutes played its Midleton 0 Sundays Well 3.
Midleton attack from the restart and a lovely chip across the field sees a great opportunity to go forward but it's knocked on. There are some good moves being put together by Midleton but they are unlucky in the final execution. Play stays around the middle of the pitch with both sides trying to probe for weaknesses in others defence and then with about 20 minutes played the Well have a chance to widen the gap with another penalty – Midleton 0 Sundays Well 6
Midleton are attacking again from the restart and really start to pile on the pressure and are rewarded with a try for the full back O'Sullivan. The conversion is wide so the score is now Midleton 5 Sundays Well 6 with about 25 minutes of the game gone.
Midleton give another penalty after the restart and the Well out-half, having a good game, makes it Midleton 5 Sundays Well 9. And so the half proceeds with both sides trading penalties to see the score at halftime to be Midleton 11 Sundays Well 12.
Both teams come out ready for battle in the second half and with 1 point the difference it's anyone's to win. Play soon advances and Midleton have a chance to go ahead from a penalty just inside halfway but it doesn't have the distance. Midleton continue to pile on the pressure and are rewarded with another penalty chance, this time its over and the score is Midleton 14 Sundays Well 12 with about 25 minutes left in the game.
The Well are determined though, and with some frustration on the Midleton end of things we are quickly down to 13 men and defending hard. The pressure mounts and the Well are camping in the Midleton half; then a drop goal sees Sundays Well back in front Midleton 14 Sundays Well 15.
Tired bodies now and the pressure is continuing from Midleton and the chance to edge ahead comes again, a pressure kick for points from a penalty but it's wide. The Well come forward again and with a strong pack push in for a try, with the conversion the final score is Midleton 14 Sundays Well 22.
A disappointing end to a close game; focus now over the Christmas period will be on learning from mistakes and looking to clear out errors in the game as we get ready to travel to Tullamore on the 11th January.
U12s steal the show!
Midleton U12's host Sundays Well U12's in an exhibition game ahead of the main event of the evening and excitement in the air as the "real" first game under lights gets underway at Townspark. Mike Cunningham referees and it's a tight encounter. The Well are up fast and disciplined, both teams want a win and the crowd are really into this taster of things to come. The final result is a fitting one as it's a draw. Everyone had a very enjoyable evening and the teams had good fun. Afterwards, the teams were then treated to sausage and chip at halftime in the main game so everyone happy!
In other news
The under 14's continue their winning ways with a win over the College, U16's lose to Skibbereen and U20's lost to Dolphin.

A lucky and tense finish to the away match win against Malone in Belfast last weekend. The Senior team as always never gave in and dug deep to display great defensive play in the last 10 minutes of the game. A missed penalty by Malone in the last minute had our hearts stopped briefly but a great away win. This weekend sees us play Dublin University in the last AIL match for 2013. We would like to see as many supporters as possible in Coonagh on Saturday, so come along and support the Club and players.

We will be hosting a Pre-Match Brunch on Saturday 14th December at 12.00pm in Shannon RFC Clubhouse, prior to the AIL Match Shannon V Dublin University in Coonagh.
