BENEFIT NIGHT for GAVIN OWENS, COBH PIRATES RFC

Cobh Pirates RFC will hold a benefit night, on 28th Sept at 8:30pm, for a Club player who emigrated to Australia in 2009 and suffered some horrific injuries in an railway accident recently. Gavin Owens (30) suffered head / back injuries and had to have his right leg amputated after he was struck by an express train while crossing tracks on his way home in New South Wales last month after the season finale for his ‘adopted’ Club, Scone RFC.

In a bid to help Gavin with his medical rehabilitation, an online auction will be held in conjunction with the benefit night on the 28th. The Facebook Event Page (https://www.facebook.com/events/409993179063559/) will be used to auction a number of signed jerseys and other amazing prizes donated by friends and businesses.
Gavin is a supremely talented rugby player, who has played for Cobh Pirates RFC from underage to J1 level and at junior level for Munster.
Everyone that knows Gavin has nothing but the utmost respect for him and wishes him all the best in his recovery.

If you would like to get involved in the night please contact: rugby@cobhpirates.com

The former Shannon man, making his competitive debut in the black and amber shirt, showed his potential throughout and contributed three conversions and a penalty to the Young Munster tally. Dom Lespierre scored two tries, and another from Darren Shannon completed the tally.
