On Saturday, 30th of August we are having our annual Family Fun Day, in the canal Bank. As always this is a free admission event and all the local residents, players and supporters are more than welcome to come down and join in.
The main event of the day will be the mixed tag rugby competition kicking off at 11am. Registration starts at 10.15am, if you have a team please get in contact ASAP as places are limited. Just remember that all teams must have 3 girls on the pitch at all times and the more girls that score the more points you get. A team is only €;100.
This year we have added a couple of new events for everyone to enjoy. We have invited back the winning J1 team from 1996 to play against the winning J1 team of 2010 in a 15 minute a side non-contact game @ 3pm.
All tag games will take a break to enjoy the “Legends Game”, that I am sure will be worth the watch. For the ladies at 3pm – we are holding an introduction to Women’s rugby in the new training pitch with our women’s head coach Gareth O’Hanlon and Irish Sevens player Nicole Cronin. The session will be 30mins long and it’s just to show the ladies how much fun rugby is especially after the success of the Irish ladies team.
Not forgetting the kids, as always we have a full range of Kids entertainment for the day including Face-Painting, Cross-Bar Challenge, Bouncy castles, Penalty Shoot-Out and the underage Mini-Olympics are starting at 2pm. New this year is also the introduction of a kids Obstacle course. Thanks to the Residents in Drominbeg that will help out with the kids Mini Olympics and Obstacle courses. For the small kids we will have the Limerick Fire brigade down in the afternoon to allow the kids to see the truck and play in it for a while.
The Underage Awards for last season will be held at 5pm. All players and families are invited down to enjoy the awards. We have 2 more activities starting around 5pm for the adults and kids – a Penalty shoot-out competition and the longest Puck competition. Live DJ throughout the day with Supermac’s will be on site cooking the food. Everyone is welcome to come down and Join us, in what will be a great day.
