Cobh Pirates RFC

Well done to Cobh Pirates RFC who recently completed their second Trip to Tipp Cycle last weekend.

The 250km cycle this year was in aid of the Cork Association for Autism and the Cobh Pirates Juvenile Section.

Congratulations to all participants for their contributions to this worthy cause.

Rockwell College

Rockwell College would like to invite applications for positions on the rugby Coaching Staff of the College up to and including Senior Rugby coach.

The position is being offered on a fixed term contract basis and is based at Rockwell College, Cashel, Co. Tipperary.

Ground Staff

Responsibilities

Manage and operate the Senior Rugby Programme in line with the principles and ethos of Rockwell College. Duties to include:

Design and delivery of high performance collective and reduced coaching sessions.

Coaching, management and preparation of players for a range of competitions.

Full attendance at all Senior Rugby activities to include: Practice Sessions, Matches, Workshops, team events & Tours.

Provide support to the coaching staff across all age groups as may be requested.

All Senior Rugby administrative duties, in cooperation with the Games Administrator, to include team sheets and scheduling.

To provide a positive rugby experience for the Students of the College.

Key Competences

Essential

Awareness and appreciation of the Rockwell College ethos and its implications for the role.

Completed Garda Vetting process satisfactorily.

Extensive knowledge of Rugby Union, to include coaching or playing experience at high standard. Outstanding communication skills.

Relationship management: The ability to develop and maintain relationships by taking a sincere interest in each person and what is important to them, treating them with respect and demonstrating integrity.

Work efficiently, prioritise and plan effectively. Be willing to work irregular and unsociable hours to include, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Computer literacy.

Recognized Coaching Accreditation .

Willingness to work in other areas of the College if practical and if required.

Teaching qualification.

Ireland U20s

Following their historical win over World Rugby U20 reigning champions New Zealand last weekend, the Ireland U20 side will take on Georgia in their final group match tonight in at the Manchester City Academy Stadium, ko 5.30pm.

A total of eight Munster players were selected on this year’s squad and six players have featured to date in series 2016.

Evan Mintern and Paul Kiernan, who captains tonight’s side, will make their first championship start as Ireland set out to claim their spot in the semi final.
