Clubs Notes – Highfield RFC & Newcastle West RFC

This week’s club notes come from Highfield RFC in Cork and Newcastle West RFC in Limerick.
Highfield RFC
Highfield RFC senior women’s squad are seeking experienced head and assistant coaches for the upcoming 2017/18 season.
The team competes at the highest level of the women’s club game in Ireland, AIL Division 1 and has reached the National Cup final in 8 of the last 10 seasons.
They have an experienced squad including current international and interprovincial players and a number of talented players coming through from the underage structure.
The coaching team will be supported by a strong management and administrative committee throughout the season, and the women’s section as a whole receives unstinting support from the club.
This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to progress their rugby coaching career.
Requirements:
- Available to attend 2 training nights per week and match days (Sunday).
- Ideally a minimum of a Level 1 rugby coaching qualification.
- Professional Approach.
- Good communication and organisation skills.

Highfield Player Recruitment
The club are also looking to recruit new female players of all ages and levels for their senior, development and underage squads, so if you have played or are looking to start playing women’s rugby in Cork why not come join us at Highfield RFC. We will be hosting our annual ‘Give It A Try’ Open Day later this summer with details to follow.

Elite XV (Seconds)
We are entering an elite (seconds) team into the upcoming seasons competitions. We are going into these competitions with our near neighbours Estuary Rfc, Abbeyfeale Rfc, and Listowel Rfc. This is a great opportunity for all four clubs to give guys a chance to play rugby.
We are looking to recruit as many players as possible. So if anyone is interested in playing for this team you can contact the manager, Sam Lane on 086 2007482 or from any other of partners in this new venture you can contact the respective clubs committee and they will pass your details onto Sam.
Adare To Survive Challenge
We are looking for people from 16 years old up to participate in Adare to survive on Sunday 24th of September. We are hoping to have at least 20 people participating we can have a group up to 50. We are looking for players’ parents, coaches or family and friends to come join the group. The more that join the group participating the cheaper the entry for each individual to pay to participate. Tag Rugby
Every Wednesday night 19.30 to 20.30 there will be Tag rugby for people who are 16 years old and older we have had a lot of parents take part in this and have decided to keep it going as a social and fitness group. No experience necessary we will teach you along the way so come join us every Wednesday night in Kilelline Grounds.
We had 32 players last Wednesday night for tag rugby and had four teams on two pitches. It was great fun in the sun with some great tries scored. It is great to see parents getting involved and its been a great social outlet for the club members. We had a few new comers again last week so hope to see a few more new faces this week.
Munster Rugby Summer Camp
We are hosting a Munster Rugby summer camp for 6 to 12 year olds and you have to book on line for this. The camp will run from August Monday 21st to Friday 25th 09.30 to 13.30 each day. Camp kids learn from the Munster youths coaches and get to meet players from the squad. Lotto
Our lotto draw takes place every Friday night. It’s our primary club fundraiser and tickets are available from various outlets and promotors. Tickets are €2.00 or 3 for €5.00.
