Coach Development | Age-Grade Coaching Seminar

Munster’s Youth Coaching Seminar took place at Charleville Park Hotel last week with guest speakers, Munster Senior Defence Coach JP Ferreira, IRFU First Aid & Injury Prevention Coordinator Shane Mooney and Munster Technical Skills Development Coach Mike Pettman.
The seminar, now in its second season, is coordinated by Munster Youth Chairman Dave Fitzgibbon and the Munster Youth Committee.
The focus of the gathering was to align the coaches (70 attended the seminar) to the competition regulations of the respective Bank of Ireland competitions.
Holger Ertz, Munster Youth Fixtures Secretary, who presented on the competition regulations followed Shane Mooney’s delivery and updates on concussion awareness and protocols.

Munster Rugby’s Spirit Officer Emily O’Leary identified the policies and regulations on safeguarding while Coach and Player Development Manager Keith Murphy updated and informed all about upcoming courses, workshops and player development programmes.
Mike Pettman presented on the skills development programme, including 7s rugby development.
Senior Defence Coach JP Ferreira referred to some key principles surrounding defence and identified key strategies in developing a successful defence platform.
Finally, Munster Branch President Mike Keane closed the seminar and offered his thanks to the coaches for all the work they are doing within their respective clubs.
