Coach Development Workshops To Focus On Key Cornerstones

The Munster Rugby Development Department are set to deliver regional coach development workshops based on an updated Rugby Development Programme.

The programme will focus on the four Cornerstones of the game (catch and pass, decision-making, continuity, and tackle technique/defence) and aligns practical coaching workshops with additional resources for coaches.

The resources will include 15 complete rugby sessions with coaching points, supplemented by video examples of games and drills.

Garryowen FC hosted a workshop in December, which focused on catch/pass and ball carry/evasion skills for coaches of 15 a-side rugby at stages 2, 3 and 4.

The Limerick club will also welcome coaches for a ‘Implementing Cornerstones Into Your Sessions’ workshop next month.

Irish Independent Park will hold a similar workshop on Monday 21 January and Monday 4 February where activities and games will be demonstrated alongside the four Cornerstones of the Rugby Development Programme.

Access to further resources (session plans and videos) will also be made available at these workshops and registration is not required.
