The last number of weeks have seen the continuation of a number of coaching courses held throughout the province, including Active Coach Badge courses and Transition Year coaching courses.

The IRFU ‘Active Mini Coach Badge’ and ‘Active Coach Badge’ courses are intended to provide coaches who have achieved the IRFU Children Coach, Youth Coach or Senior Coach Award(s), with ongoing continuing professional development (‘CPD’), i.e. information and opportunities to ensure that learning and development of coaching skills continue throughout the season.

Courses have already taken place in Fethard Town Park and Clonakilty RFC while there are many more of these courses taking place throughout the province in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Please click here for upcoming courses.

Meanwhile, the Transition Year Coaching Course Programme is being rolled out in a number of different schools throughout the province.

TY students will learn the role of coaching and how to manage practices. The program has been running for several years and is delivered by the Rugby Development department.

All attending students receive an IRFU Play Rugby certificate on completion and get access to several rugby development modules and resources through Gainline, the online learning management system.

For more information on the TY Coaching course programme, please click here.

There is also a Coaching Children Course taking place in Muskerry RFC on Sunday, 4th December. More information about that course can be found here.
