Community Refereeing To Support Munster Rugby
28th September 2015 By Munster Rugby
A total of 42 recruits from all over Munster recently began their rugby refereeing careers at a workshop hosted by IRFU Referee Development Manager Peter Fitzgibbon.
The event marked the first in a series of workshops that participants will attend as they graduate towards a fulfilling career in the game.
The workshop was also unique as it contained the first cohort of community referees who will support clubs at a local level the options of graduating on to general refereeing across the province.
This ‘new’ category of referee within the Munster Association of Referees will focus on youth rugby in the locality and they will be appointed as full members of the MAR.
The 21 new referees that fall into this category will contribute to the 5 year strategic goal where all matches have an official referee appointment.
Should you like to find out more information on any of these refereeing paths or like to contribute to Munster Rugby through officiating please email IRFU Referee Development Manager Peter Fitzgibbon at peter.fitzgibbon@irfu.ie or visit www.mar.ie
