Community Rugby Update
17th November 2017 By The Editor
Munster Rugby’s Community Rugby Officers have been busy as ever in recent weeks working with schools and clubs across the province.
Working in tandem with Waterford Sports Partnership, we recently ran some activities in the Waterford Area to promote rugby and a club-school link.
Following a five-week Play Rugby Course at St Saviour National School, run by Community rugby Officer John O’Neill, all pupils received a pass to a Mini Rugby Session at Waterford City RFC.
John also held a Coaches Workshop at Waterford City RFC on Continuity and a TackleSMART presentation to upskill coaches on safe tackling technique.
A five-week introduction to rugby for the Sports Disability Club in Waterford has also been co-ordinated by John.
There are other activities planned throughout the season with Munster Rugby and various Sports Partnerships.
Community Rugby Officer Ray Gadsden recently held a mid-term break Give it a Try camp at Dunmanway RFC as 90 children from the area spent two days at the club getting to meet new friends and learn new rugby skills.
