Comprehensive Victory For Crescent

Crescent College Comprehensive are on course for a Senior and Junior double in the Clayton Hotels Schools Cup after a deserving victory over P.B.C. at Irish Independent Park.

The Limerick outfit will face either Glenstal Abbey School or defending champions Christian Brothers College who will meet tomorrow in the second semi final at Irish Independent Park (ko 2.30pm).

P.B.C. 0, Crescent College Comprehensive 22.

There was no denying Crescent their win as they were on top in most facades of play and with a bit more clinical finishing could have won by a bigger margin.

Both Crescent wingers Ben Carew and Timothy Duggan threatened tries in the early stages as the Limerick side threw the ball around.

Captain John Hurley opened Crescent’s account with a penalty on thirteen minutes.

From the restart Crescent were penalised for off side but Pres’ out half Niall Murphy saw his penalty effort go wide.

Cian McDonagh was dominating the line outs for Crescent and center Jamin Hoffman was always dangerous going forward with ball in hand.

Pres’ second row David McCarthy and number eight Amhlaiobh Porter were working hard for Pres’ who trailed 3-0 at the interval.

With wind advantage in the second half Crescent had Pres’ pinned back in their own half for long periods.

Crescent’s pressure was rewarded with a try from hooker Ronan Reynolds and Hurley converted for a 10-0 lead.

Pres’ did respond with Murphy and Brian Lynch making great drives and Hoffman made a try saving tackle as Lynch looked like he would score.

Crescent sustained this pressure and were back on the attack for the remainder of the game and a try from number eight Jack Madden converted by Hurley put the game beyond the Cork side with eight minutes remaining.

Substitute Eoin Feeney completed the scoring with a try in the sixth minute of injury time.
