Con Set To Defend Bateman Cup Title

Cork Constitution will defend their Bateman Cup title against UCD on Saturday, 3rd May at Temple Hill (kick-off 2.30pm).

Cup holders Constitution and Division 1A rivals UCD will meet following their respective home semi-final victories over Queens at Temple Hill and Galweigians in Belfield.

Gerry Hurley captained Con to the Munster Senior Cup final last December where they overcame Garryowen at Thomond Park and went on to represent their province in the All Ireland play-offs.

Con will be hoping to bring the Bateman Cup back to Munster for the fourth year in a row, following their win over St. Mary’s last season and previously claimed by Bruff in 2011 and Garryowen in 2012.

There will be no replay in the All Ireland Bateman Cup final and in the event of a full time draw the following regulations will apply:-

  • If clubs are tied at full time, extra time of 10 minutes each way shall be played.
  • If still tied, the club which has scored most tries shall be the winner.
  • If still tied, the team who scored the 1st try shall be the winner
  • If no tries have been scored, the team that scored the first points in the final shall be declared the winner
  • If the final is scoreless, penalty kicks shall be taken to decide the winner

Clubs may tog out up to 7 (seven) additional players and they will act as rolling substitutes.

* The Batwman Cup Final will be televised live on RTE
