Concussion Information Evening At Shannon RFC
11th December 2015 By Munster Rugby
Shannon RFC held a Concussion Awareness and Information evening at their club in Thomond Park last Wednesday where parents and coaches received a presentation on concussion and the associated dangers, causes and signs.
Those who attended were presented with information on spotting the signs of concussion, and procedures and guidelines to follow should a concussion, head impact or whiplash type injury be suspected.
Shannon RFC highlighted the pitch side and subsequent protocols which must be followed in cases where a concussion is suspected. The gathering was addressed by Ian Dowling, Shannon RFC Physio, Dr. Mark Campbell, Physical Education and Sports Sciences, University of Limerick and Elizabeth O’Mahony, Consultant Paediatric Neurologist.
The night proved to be a huge success with an impressive turnout and a full house in attendance.
