Cork Con Claim 44th Cork Charity Cup

Cork Constitution won the Cork Charity Cup Final for the 44th time after a 21-14 hard fought victory over U.C.C. at Temple Hill.
This game was in the balance up to the final whistle but the experience of Cork Constitution proved the difference in the end.
College got off to a great start with James Taylor giving then the lead with an unconverted try after two minutes.
Con’ were level on fifteen minutes when winger Liam O’Connell squeezed in at the corner for a try.
While Con’ dominated possession two penalties from Taylor had the Students 11-5 ahead at half time.
Three penalties from Tomas Quinlan on 42, 47 and 56 minutes had Con’ ahead 14-11 for the first time in the game.
Taylor levelled for College two minutes later but a try from substitute Brendan Quinlan converted by Tomas Quinlan earned Con’ victory with ten minutes remaining.
Cashel became the first winners of the Cork Charity Shield when they came from behind to defeat Sunday’s Well 24-15 at the Towns Park, Midleton.

Former Cork Constitution out half Dara Lyons opened the scoring with a penalty for Cashel.
The ‘Well hit back with tries from John Moynihan and Michael Boland and an Eoin Geary conversion to lead 12-3.
A try on the stroke of half time by Brian Fitzpatrick reduced the lead to 12-8.
A second Lyons penalty and a conversion of a Richard Kingston try put the Tipperary side ahead 18-12.
Lyons and Geary exchanged penalties before Lyons landed his third penalty in the final minute to ensure victory for Cashel.
