Cork Schools Development League Kicks Off
28th October 2011 By Munster Rugby
The inaugural schools development league recently took place between Ballincollig Community School and McEgan College Macroom at Tanner Park, Ballincollig.
With a view to developing rugby in non-traditional rugby schools this league has been designed to increase youth playing numbers throughout the county for an overall benefit to the game.
The first rugby match for many of the participants saw McEgan College take control from the off. Ballincollig however fought hard in the 2nd period and were rewarded with two tries to leave the final score 20-10 to the Macroom side.
Both teams will continue to play in their respective sections of the league which contains eleven non traditional rugby playing schools. The league will continue in to the New Year with Munster Rugby hosting a final Blitz day close to the end of the school term.
Munster Rugby would like to congratulate both schools on their first day out on a rugby pitch and wish them every success in their coming fixtures.
