Crescent Edge Out Bandon Grammar To Reach Senior Cup Semi-Finals

Crescent College Comprehensive 33 – 29 Bandon Grammar School
Dooradoyle was the place to be this afternoon as the second of the Pinergy Munster Schools Boys Senior Cup quarter-finals took place.
Limerick natives Crescent College Comprehensive took on the West Cork side Bandon Grammar School in a tightly contested clash.
Crescent were first to strike with a try from winger Gerry Joyce in the sixth minute.
Bandon Grammar fought back and were over themselves just five minutes later through Cash Healy to bring the sides level for the first time.
The Limerick side responded in the 26th minute with a try from Charlie Fenton. Alan Cleary added the extras to put seven points between the sides.
But Bandon levelled it once again in the 30th minute as Calem Harte crossed the whitewash. Rory Golden converted to bring the sides to 12-12.
Crescent struck right before the end of the half as Darragh McKeogh ran in with Alan Cleary adding the extra two to put them ahead at 19-12.
Bandon opened up the second half with back-to-back tries from Paddy Coughlan and Zach Piper with Golden converting the second bringing the score to 19-24 in favour of the the West Cork outfit.
But Crescent were in again as McKeogh crashed over for this second try of the afternoon with Cleary nailing the conversion.
Bandon responded with a second try from Zach Piper opening up that gap again with a score line of 26-29.
Crescent sealed the deal in a flourish in the final minutes of the game as hooker Alex McNamara was driven over the line. With the addition of the conversion from Cleary the game finished 33-29 sending Crescent College Comprehensive through to the Pinergy Munster Schools Boys Senior Cup semi-final.
