Crescent Into Junior Cup Semi-Finals

Crescent College overcame Rockwell 22-5 at Thomond Park to secure a semi-final place in the SEAT Schools Junior Cup.

Crescent College 22-5 Rockwell College

Crescent made a superb start and hit the front on 12 minutes when out-half Michael Fenton showed good strength to cross after a mix up in the Rockwell defence.

Full-back John Hurley landed the tricky conversion and Crescent were further in front when winger Conor Phillips showed outstanding speed to race from inside his own half and touch down to make it 12-0.

Rockwell fought back well to narrow the gap to seven points at the break as Paddy Murchen touched down after a rolling maul to make it 12-5.

Crescent made a strong start to the second half but excellent Rockwell defence kept their line intact.

When Rockwell did finally break away, Crescent's flying winger Phillips collected a kick and handed off one defender before playing a brilliant one-two with Aaron Cosgrove before running in his second try

Nevil O’Sullivan crossed for a fourth Crescent try in the left corner on 53 minutes to seal the win and join CBC in the hat for the semi-final draw that takes place in the Mardyke tomorrow.
