Crosshaven 7’s By The Sea

You’ve got through winter rugby, hopefully the season has been enjoyable and now you’re looking for something special to finish off the year, well, look no further than Crosshaven RFC’s U-18s Rugby 7’s.

The annual Crosshaven RFC U-18s Rugby 7’s will run on Saturday, April 25th and was launched recently by Munster players Denis Hurley, Robin Copeland and Kevin O’Byrne.

Organisers are hoping to build on what was a huge success in 2014 and already have a commitment from a number of teams from throughout Munster. With good weather expected, teams can look forward to exciting, fast paced rugby as well as entertainment and fun throughout the day in Crosshaven by the sea.

Last year there were 32 games providing more than 4 hours of play on the day. Each game of the round-robin style tournament was less than fifteen minutes with plenty of fast and intense rugby.

The competition was fierce and saw Dunmanway RFC take the cup in a thrilling final against a very strong Tralee RFC side while Dolphin RFC took the shield final from Newcastle West RFC and Kinsale RFC took the plate from Mallow RFC.

A special thanks must go out to our sponsors Francis and Mary Lennox of Lennox Hearing Aid Specialists for their continued support of Crosshaven juvenile rugby and for providing the inaugural cup, shield, and plate trophies.

Hear what some of the participating teams had to say after last year's competition:

“Just like to say a big thanks to all at Crosshaven RFC for a great day of Rugby 7s yesterday. Wish you all the best for years to come.” – David Phillips, Coach U-18s Waterford City RFC

“Thanks….great day out." – John Liston, U-18s Coach, Newcastle West RFC

“Well done to the Crosshaven gang. It was a great day. Well organized and thanks very much.” – Neil Sanderson, U-18s Coach, Dunmanway RFC

“Thanks again from all at Waterford City and don’t forget us next year” – Waterford City RFC
