Cup Final Action This Weekend – Junior Rugby Preview

A big weekend of rugby at Junior level as finals in the Junior Clubs’ Challenge Cup, while Ballincollig is the venue for the Martin O’Sullivan Cup final between Fethard and Killarney.

The finals of the three divisional cups awarded to Munster Junior League Clubs are down for decision this weekend. There are also games that have been re-fixed in the Munster Junior League, the Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Cup and the Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Plate.

Nenagh Ormond and Bruff get proceedings underway in the quarter finals of the Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Plate at New Ormond Park. The winners will be rewarded with a home semi-final against Castleisland.

Cobh Pirates, who won the Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Cup in 2006 welcome 2014 finalists Clanwilliam to the Paddocks for their rescheduled last 16 tie. The winners will be away to Cork Constitution in the quarter finals.

Bandon and Kilfeacle go head to head in the Munster Junior Clubs’ Challenge Cup decider at Smith’s Road in Charleville and Kinsale and Thurles lock horns in the Munster Junior Clubs’ Challenge Shield final at the Showgrounds in Fermoy.

Fethard and Killarney contest the Martin O’Sullivan Cup final at Tanner Park in Ballincollig.

On Sunday Newcastle West will be looking to make the most of home advantage count as they host Richmond in Division 1 of the Munster Junior League. The West Limerick side are second and level on points with Bandon and Kilfeacle on 37 points. However failure by the home side to get something from this tie will see Clonmel crowned champions with two games remaining.

In Division 2, Youghal are at home to Presentation with the points vital to both sides.

Similarly Crosshaven’s trip to Suirside to take on Waterford City is a crucial tie for the visitors as they strive to move up the table.
