Derby Win For Young Munster

In a keenly contested local derby at Dooradoyle watched by the biggest crowd of the season Young Munster ended Garryowen’s Ulster Bank League Division 1A playoff hopes with a deserved victory.
Garryowen 8, Young Munster 14.
This was a match Garryowen knew they had to win to keep alive their chance of a top four finish.
The game was only three minutes old when Gearoid Lyons landed a penalty for Young Munster but it was all square after 21 minutes when Neil Cronin was on target for Garryowen.
Four minutes into the second half Lyons kicked his second penalty and he had a third after 74 minutes.
The biggest cheer of the night greeted a Young Munster try by Michael Vaughan who raced from halfway following an intercept after 76 minutes.
In stoppage time Andrew O'Byrne had a consolation try for Garryowen.
