Development Squads’ Information Evening
29th May 2015 By Munster Rugby
The Munster Rugby Development Department recently held an information evening for players from the Schools and Clubs U-17 development squads and their parents.
There were over 100 parents in attendance as the programme co-ordinators John Lacey and Andy Brace outlined the summer programme for the respective squads. Elite Player Development Manager Peter Malone was on hand to inform the parents about the player development pathway within Munster Rugby.
Coach Development Manager Keith Murphy also attended as senior player Dave Foley (below) offered guidance and support as well as sharing his experience of coming through the Munster Clubs development pathway.
The players will go through a summer programme of skill development and strength and conditioning with two days a week working in centres in Cork and Limerick and one day a week with both the club squad and the schools squad in Rockwell College.
This will take place during the Munster Rugby summer talent camp where the U-18 schools and U-18 clubs will also be in situ.
These players will get access to both on-pitch and off-pitch rugby experiences. Educational modules on nutrition, mental health, the laws of the game etc. will also be delivered to the players during their time in Rockwell.
