Donal Walsh Memorial Blitz Day at Tralee RFC

Tralee RFC recently hosted a Blitz Day in memory of the late Donal Walsh.

A number of schools senior teams from the West Munster area, including Donal’s former school CBS ‘The Green' Tralee, where he coached the 1st and 2nd year students, took part in the one day event.

Other participating schools included Mercy Mounthawk (Tralee), St. Pats (Castleisland), Colaiste Ide Agus Iosef (Abbeyfeale), CBS (Tralee), Colaiste na Sceliga (Cahersiveen) and Carnegie (Killorglin).

New Zealander and CBC Tralee student Danny Curnane, who was formally coached by Donal, performed the Haka ahead of the event.

The blitz was organised by all the schools in the Kerry region and is planned to be held annually.

Teams played in a league format which saw CBS ‘The Green’ take on St. Pat’s Castleisland in the final.

Donal’s family kindly donated a shield to the winners, St. Pat’s, who claimed a 4-1 victory in a very entertaining match.
