Draw Details For Munster Schools Boys Senior And Junior Cups

The details of the knockout stages of the Munster Schools Boys Junior Cup and Pinergy Munster Schools Boys Senior Cup have been confirmed.

During the first half of this season, schools from throughout the province played in a round-robin format in two groups in both competitions to determine their seeding for the knockout stages which begin in January.

For the Pinergy Munster Schools Boys Senior Cup, Coláiste Pobail Bheanntraí, who defeated High School CBS Clonmel 38-17 in the qualifier to ensure their qualification for the knockout stages, will take on Glenstal Abbey in Round 1. The winners of this clash will be away to Rockwell College in Round 2.

In the other first round game, Bandon Grammar School host Castletroy College. The winner of this tie will travel to Limerick to face reigning champions Crescent College Comprehensive.

The other two Round 2 clashes will see Cork and Limerick derbies with PBC meeting CBC and St Munchin’s College taking on Ardscoil Rís.

The draw for the Pinergy Munster Schools Boys Senior Cup

For the Munster Schools Boys Junior Cup; Coláiste Pobail Bheanntraí, who defeated Villiers 17-7 in the qualifier to ensure their qualification to the knockout stages, will take on Glenstal Abbey in Round 1. The winners of this clash will be away to Ardscoil Rís in Round 2.

CBC will meet Bandon Grammar in the first round. The winners of this clash will be away to Crescent College Comprehensive in Round 2.

PBC and Rockwell College will face each other in the second round while St Munchin’s College and Castletroy College will meet in Round 2 also.

Elsewhere, it was busy week in schools rugby with Bowen Shield, McCarthy Cup A and McCarthy Cup B competitions down for decision.

In the U18 Bowen Shield, CBC beat their city rivals PBC 28-10 in Musgrave Park while PBC got the better of St Munchin’s College 15-12 in a tightly contested game, also at the Cork venue.

The final game of the day saw CBC beat PBC 35-5 in the McCarthy Cup B decider.
