The draw has been made for this season’s Munster Schools Girls Junior and Senior Cup competitions.

The 2021/2022 season saw the first edition of these competitions being held with Ardscoil Mhuire from Limerick winning the Junior Cup competition and St Anne’s Community College from Clare winning the Senior Cup competition.

Both games were held in Musgrave Park as part of a double-header with two hugely entertaining games taking place.

Women’s Committee Chair Wendy Keenan said:

“I’m delighted to see the growth in the number of schools participating in our Junior and Senior Schools Cup competitions this season.

“This can be directly attributed to the fantastic work being done in the schools by the development staff. There are 15 schools competing in a 15-a-side schools cup competition in its second year, this has exceeded our expectations.

“We have witnessed an extraordinary increase in the level of engagement with schools since September on the back of the Emerging Schools Programme and I have no doubt we will see the dividends in the near future with more girls filtering into the club game.”

In the Junior Cup, defending champions Ardscoil Mhuire will take on St Anne’s Killaloe in the quarter-final in a repeat of last year’s final while in the Senior Cup final, St Anne’s Killaloe will take on newcomers Sacred Heart Clonakilty in the opening round.
