19th December 2018 By The Editor
The draw for the 2018/19 Women’s All Ireland Cup has been made with the first round of games kicking off on Sunday, January 13.
Cup holders Railway Union, along with Old Belvedere and UL Bohemians have a bye into the second round but two of them will square off at that stage in a replay of last season’s final which saw Railway blast their way past their Limerick rivals.
Round 1 kicks off with Ballynahinch at home to St. Mary’s, who are currently bottom of the Women’s All-Ireland League.
Suttonians will be at home to Cooke while Shannon are at home to Blackrock. The winners of the latter game will be pitted against Old Belvedere in Round 2 a week later.
The final two games in the opening round are Tralee v Galwegians and Tullow at home to Malone.
The losing teams in Round 1 will divert into the Plate and Shield competitions.
