Emerging Schools Initiative

The Munster Rugby Development Department have been introducing rugby into more than 80 secondary schools ahead of the upcoming Emerging Schools Blitzes.

The Community Rugby Officers are coaching rugby to students, many of whom have never played the sport, in schools from Kerry, West Cork, East Cork, Cork City, North Cork, Tipperary, Limerick, Waterford and Clare ahead of the upcoming competition.

There will be two blitzes before Christmas and two blitzes after Christmas in the designated regions.

The top two schools from each region will go into a finals day in Cork and Limerick.

The aim of the initiative is to give as many young people as possible the opportunity to play rugby with the venture proving a great success so far.

Bad weather earlier this week didn't deter the 1st Year students of St. Michael's Secondary School in Listowel.
