Fermoy Primary Schools Tag Blitz

Fermoy Primary Schools Tag Blitz

This week Fermoy RFC hosted six national school teams, Bishop Murphy, St Josephs, Conna, Kilworth, Grange and Rathcormac, in a tag blitz at the Club grounds. All six schools have been involved in the Youth Development Officer scheme this year and all fielded 15 a-side teams.

With three places in the County Tag Rugby extravaganza being held this month up for grabs there was plenty of great skill, speed and teamwork on display.

The Schools were split into two groups of three with playoffs being held after the group stages with Grange NS and Rathcormac NS emerging victorious from group one and two. They played a tense and very exciting final with Grange edging the win along with Conna, Grange and Rathcormac being the three teams going forward to the Tag Rugby day in Cork.

All players and teachers involved had a fantastic day of rugby which has hopefully introduced many enthusiasts and new recruits for the game.

The Domestic Game Department would like to take this opportunity to thank Fermoy RFC for the use of their grounds on the day and Cork City YDO Elliott Corcoran for all his assistance with refereeing matches. We would also like to thank teachers, Ms Eilish Murray (Grange NS), Ms Ann Maria Casey (Conna NS), Ms Sharon Murphy (Rathcormac NS), Ms Karen Fox (Kilworth NS), Ms Kate Ryan (Bishop Murphy NS) and Ms Geraldine Burke (St Josephs NS) for all their help organising the teams for the day.
