The occasion generated a tremendous level of interest, as in total, there were eighty six students competing for bragging rights and gold medals. Even though the weather did its best to hamper the occasion, the students battled bravely against not only other first year classes but also the horrible elements in what could only be described as a truly enjoyable occasion. The students simply would not hear of a postponement due to the weather.
The action was thick and fast, spirits were high, crunching tackles were reportedly heard 20 Km away in Newcastle West, friend became foe, passages of play were magnificent in spectacle, even if these originated from the foe, they were applauded, for skilful athletes acknowledge brilliance.
The students generously donated €;1 each and in total €;86 was raised for the Irish Cancer Society. Well done!!
To the Transition and second year students who coached, organised and helped out; Thank you. To officiators John Moloney and Mary Teehan; Thank you. To all teachers for their co-operation and for everyone who helped out; Thank you.
