Fitzpatrick Makes It A Family Affair

On Saturday, 5th March Cashel RFC supporters will witness a special day at Thomond Park Stadium when their Under 12 girls take to the field.

The amalgamated Cashel and Fethard Under 12 girls side will take to the pitch for the mini rugby half time display during the Munster v Newport Gwent Dragons Guinness pro12 fixture.

Not only will the newly established girls’ team take to the pitch, but there will also be a unique moment when MAR referee Wendy Fitzpatrick, in her second year of referring, will officiate both her daughter and niece, Grace Fitzpatrick Ryan and Ciara Fitzpatrick.

Wendy is a very active member at Cashel RFC not only as a referee, but also a player. She also manages the Cashel Senior Women’s side who are currently top of their league.

Grace and Ciara Fitzpatrick have been playing in Cashel for a number of years alongside the boys but fortunately this season they now have the opportunity to play with in an all girls team.

They hope to go on to represent their club throughout the age grades as Cashel set out to expand girls rugby with players eventually feeding into their senior side.
