Fixtures For Coming Week

The opening round of the ODM Munster Senior Cup gets under way this weekend with eight thrilling ties in prospect.

Holder’s Garryowen will be putting their ODM Munster Senior Cup title and All Ireland Bateman Cup on the line when they entertain Thomond at Dooradoyle and should have too much power for the Second Division side.

The game of the round should be the All Division 1A clash at Temple Hill when Cork Constitution entertain Dolphin for the second time this season. Dolphin won the Cork Charity Cup encounter 31-21 on their way to retaining their title. The home side will not want to suffer another defeat so early in the season and will be going all out to avenge that defeat.

U.L. Bohemian, who won the Limerick Charity Cup with some impressive performances, will be quietly confident of defeating Nenagh Ormond at the Tipperary venue.

Young Munster are at home to U.C.C. and they should have too much power for the students.

Shannon travel to Midleton and while the visitors should advance, it would be no surprise if the home side pulled off an upset.

Bruff finalists for the last two seasons face a tricky encounter at home to Cashel. The Tipperary side disappointed to have lost to Highfield in the Charity Cup will be eager to cause a surprise.

Highfield face Old Crescent at Woodleigh Park and both these sides are due to meet again in the league later in the season but the home side after a few impressive performances already this season will fancy their chances of advancing.

The other tie is a local derby tie between Sunday’s Well and Clonakilty and both sides will be looking for a moral boosting victory ahead of their league campaign.

The Munster Junior Clubs Challenge Cup which had to be redrawn because of the re-instatement of Kilfeacle to the First Division will see seven ties to be decided this weekend.
