Foreign Students Enjoy Rugby Camp
15th July 2015 By Munster Rugby
Cork English College students are now in week two of their rugby camp hosted by Munster Rugby.
All 50 students attended a nutrition and hydration talk given by former Munster prop Darragh Hurley yesterday at CIT.
Darragh gave the students an insight into professional rugby by highlighting recommended foods for healthy eating while training, and the importance of hydrating the body.
Following the talk, the young players took to the pitch for a series of position specific modules such as tackling, scrum and lineout techniques overseen by Munster Rugby coaches.
A series of matches followed giving the players an opportunity to showcase their skills in a free-flowing style of rugby.
The students ranging in ages from 13 to 16 are taking part in the two week course, designed to develop their rugby stills through the English language.
In its second year running, the course offers a combination of language tuition in the mornings with rugby and cultural activities in the afternoons and evenings.
As an added bonus, last Saturday the students travelled to Limerick city to take a tour of Thomond Park Stadium.
CEC is Cork's oldest English language college and welcomes in excess of 3,500 students to Cork every year. CEC also run a variety of other English and sports camps such as Horse-Riding, Golf, Sailing and Soccer.
