Galbally Go Top In Munster Junior League

Newly promoted Galbally have gone clear at the top of Division One of the Munster Junior League.

In their postponed game with Thurles from last week, they defeated the Tipperary side 30-0. Galbally led 11-0 at half time with a try from Jack Hogan and two penalties by Darren Guerin. James Taylor, Eddie Fraher and Danny Hayes scored tries after the break to secure the bonus point and Guerin converted two of the tries.

In Division Two Youghal lost top spot as Mallow, Presentation and St. Mary’s all share top spot.

Mallow travelled to Youghal and defeated the home side 11-0. Michael O’Flynn scored a try and two penalties for the visitors to give them an 11-0 interval lead.

Presentation preserved their unbeaten record after their 11-9 away win over Ennis. The sides were tied 6-6 at half time with Bryan Murphy kicking two penalties for the Clare side and Mark Phair replied with two penalties for the visitors. Murphy put Ennis ahead with a third penalty but a late try by Stephen Ryan secured the points for Presentation.

St. Mary’s made it three wins from three with a 23-12 away win over Castleisland. A try from Robert Brockert and a conversion and three penalties by Sean Lyons had the Saints 16-0 ahead at half time. Darren Clancy extended their advantage with a try and Lyons converted. Castleisland replied with two late tries from John McCarthy and Mike Cronin and one conversation by JJ Casey.

Newcastle West ended Kinsale’s unbeaten run with a 27-19 home win. Tries from Niall Kennedy and Stephen Kelly and two conversions and two penalties by Sean Neville had Newcastle West ahead 20-0 at half time. Kelly scored another try after the break and Alan Roche converted. Kinsale replied with two tries from Pat O’Regan and one by Frazer Hodgson. Paul Perez kicked two conversions.

Both the Ballincollig and Muskerry games were abandoned due to weather as both games approached half time. Muskerry were leading Bandon 6-5 with two penalties from Eoin Keohane to Michael Murphy’s try for Bandon.

Ballincollig were trailing 7-3 at home to Scariff when the ref called a halt. Rory Slattery scored a try for the Clare side which Trevor Kelly converted and Kevin Ryan replied with a penalty for Ballincollig.

Also postponed was the Newport v Killarney tie.

Killorglin still remain top in Division Three after their 18-15 away win over Abbeyfeale. Andrew Reilly scored two tries for the Kerry side and Dave Coffey kicked two penalties and a conversion. Abbeyfeale were awarded a penalty try and Michael Enright scored a try. Tom Enright kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Dungarvan remain in second place after their 11-10 away win over Kilrush. Darragh Ryan scored a try for the winners and Conor Foley added two penalties. Ben Farrelly replied with a try for Kilrush and Paul Conway kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Charleville repeated their recent victory over Fermoy in the Martin O’Sullivan Cup with a 20-10 home win. Ger Sheehan and Peadar Cronin scored tries for Charleville and Shane Corkery kicked two conversions and two penalties, before Fermoy replied with a try from Darren Hartnett and a conversion and penalty by Shane O’Riordan.

Corca Dhuibhne defeated Bantry Bay 16-3. Ciaran Collins and Shane Griffin scored tries for the winners and Kevin Moriarty kicked two penalties. Brian Keohane replied with a penalty for the visitors.

Waterford City overcame Douglas 21-8. Colin Lynch, Karl Reade and Niall Coady scored tries for Waterford and Aaron Foskin added two penalties.

Carrick-on-Suir defeated Dunmanway 20-0. JP Wallace, Sean Cuddy and William Lonergan scored tries for Carrick’ and Charlie Boland kicked a penalty and a conversion.

Sunday’s Well had a surprising 20-8 home win over U.C.C. in the Munster Seconds Senior League South. Dave O’Gorman scored two tries for the winners and Conor Nagle got one. Charlie O’Donoghue kicked a drop goal and Padraig McSweeney a conversion.

Young Munster bounced back after their mid week defeat by Garryowen in the Gleeson League with a 16-9 away win over St. Mary’s. Munsters were awarded a penalty try and Conor O’Brien kicked a conversion and three penalties.

Cork Constitution had to battle all the way for their 22-6 home win over Mallow in the Junior Two League South. Neill O’Connell scored two tries for the winners and Ryan Hassan one. James O’Sullivan kicked two conversions and a penalty. Martin O’Connor replied with two penalties for the visitors.

Dolphin defeated Highfield 33-3. Trevor O’Sullivan scored two of the winner’s six tries and Aidan Uniacke, David Griffin, Timmy Cotter and Mark Long got the others. Martin Aherne kicked a penalty.

Carrigaline continued their impressive run with a 27-0 home win over Clonakilty. Dave O’Donoghue, Ray O’Donoghue, John Tait, Roy Murphy and Kieran Cronin were Carrigaline’s try scorers and Tait kicked a conversion.

Cork Constitution had a 15-10 home victory over Galwegians in the Under 21 South Western Conference. Cathal Quinn and Kieran Stokes scored tries for the Temple Hill side and Sean Og Murphy added a conversion and penalty. Paul Griffin and Daniel Leader replied with tries for Galwegians.
