Garryowen Academy Whistle Happy
9th December 2009 By Munster Rugby
Members of the Garryowen FC Academy recently attended the IRFU Associate Referee Course held at Dooradoyle under the watchful eye of former international referee David McHugh.
The primary purpose of the course is to give coaches and players a basic knowledge of refereeing, and a better understanding of referee principles and the laws of the game.
Coaches and players are required to complete the course if they wish to referee age-grade games, training games and blitzes. When refereeing it is essential to provide a safe environment in which teams can play.
Garryowen plan to utilize this associate referee resource in age-grade games in the coming months.
Upcoming Associate Referee Courses:
Sunday 3rd January ‘10 University of Limerick, 2pm-3.30pm
Sunday 10th January ‘10 Colaiste Stiofan Naofa, TBC
Clubs please note: If it is more than three years since your coaches or players last attended this course, they are required to attend again. The course is free of charge.
Please contact Siobhan Collins in the Munster Rugby Domestic Game department if you wish to attend, siobhancollins@munsterrugby.ie or call 021-4323563.
