Garryowen Reach Munster Senior Challenge Cup Final

Holder’s Garryowen are through to the final of the Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Challenge Cup after they overcame the challenge of local rivals Shannon 27-9 in the first semi-final at Dooradoyle.
The teams were evenly matched in the opening thirty minutes with the lead changing hands on six occasions as Garryowen led 11-9.
Peadar Collins scored a try and two penalties for Garryowen and Jake Flannery replied with three penalties for Shannon.
Two penalties by Collins extended Garryowen’s lead who led 17-9 at half-time.
A second try early in the second half by Liam Cronin converted by Collins put the game beyond Shannon.
Collins kicked his fifth penalty late in the game to complete the scoring.
Garryowen must now await the winners of the other semi-final between Cork Constitution and the winners of the Cashel v Highfield quarter-final tie.
