Gary Walsh Appointed Munster Women’s Head Coach

Munster Rugby are delighted to announce the recent appointment of Gary Walsh as the new Munster Senior Women’s Head Coach.

Gary succeeds John O’Sullivan who this season coached the Munster Women to winning their fifth consecutive Interprovincial series.

Having started his playing career at the age of five in Barnhall RFC, Gary went on to play rugby in Blackrock College where he won a Leinster Schools Junior Cup medal in 2001 followed by a Senior Cup medal in 2004.

During 2004 Gary also went on to play for both Leinster and Ireland schools where he received his first cap on a tour to Australia.

Gary was contracted to the Munster Academy from 2004 to 2008 and during this time played with the Munster U19’s again representing Ireland in the World Cup Squad of 2005 in Durban.

Currently Gary is a member of the UL Bohemians senior squad and has also developed his coaching skills in a number of roles. He was the junior cup forwards coach in Glenstal Abbey last season and has a number of years experience in the women’s game having coached the UL Bohemian senior team since 2008.

Munster Rugby would like to wish Gary and the Munster Women’s squad every success in the coming season.
