With pre-season activity in full swing across the various Domestic departments, the development of girls’ rugby throughout the province is taking shape ahead of the new season.

The Munster U18 Girls squad have been developing their skills at both UL and CIT within the Bank of Ireland Talent Camp programme.

The talent camp includes on-pitch activities, strength and conditioning sessions, and player welfare tutorials focusing on diet and nutritional needs.

The camp also provides an opportunity for coaches to see how players adapt to the professional environment, and have a closer look at the talent already identified for the U18 Girls squad.

The camp will incorporate preparations for the upcoming U18 Girls Interprovincial campaign commencing in the coming months, with the Munster U18 Girls squad looking to defend their Interprovincial title from last season.

Two of the current Munster U18 Girls squad were a part of the Ireland U18 Women’s 7s squad who won the inaugural Home Nations tournament in Edinburgh earlier this month.

Fethard’s Dorothy Wall and Carrick On Suir’s Maggie Boylan contributed to the fantastic achievement, as the national squad now prepare for the second leg of the competition which takes place in Birmingham from July 20-22.

As the girls’ game continues to grow throughout the province, this year’s Bank of Ireland Summer Camps have close to 100 girls already signed up with camps running until Friday 24 August.

Ireland Women’s captain and Summer Camp coach, Ciara Griffin, has been sharing her knowledge of the game with boys and girls at some of the recent camps.
