Girls Front-Five Programme

Munster Rugby Women's Participation Officer Rosemary Dillon oversees the scrum session.

A new initiative is currently being implemented in Munster which sees front-five position specific coaching for underage girls’ rugby.

Women’s Development Officer Ken Imbusch and Women’s Participation Officer Rosemary Dillon are behind the programme which sees a number of hugely experienced coaches offering their expertise to the province’s young players.

Former Munster props Mike Storey, Tony Buckley and John Hayes, former Munster Women’s player Olivia Brown, Rugby Development Officer Eugene McCarthy and Club Community Rugby Officer Emmett O’Callaghan have all been involved in recent weeks in helping deliver the programme.

Currently, these coaches are working with the front-five players of the U16 and U18 Regional Development Squads (RDS) squads and in the future, club and school coaches will also be provided with this expertise which will benefit player development in the areas of scrummaging, lineout lifting and lineout jumping.

Former Munster player John Hayes works with age-grade girls during a recent front-five coaching session.
