Girls Schools Rugby Kicks Off In West Cork
4th March 2016 By Munster Rugby
Colaiste na Toirbhirte Bandon all girls school recently played their first contact rugby game against Colaiste Pobal Bantry in Bandon.
A great running game of rugby resulted in six tries scored, finishing up honours even with three tries all.
As player recruitment continues throughout the province, the fixture was part of a rugby programme being facilitated in the schools by Munster Community Rugby Officer Eugene McCarthy and Bantry Bay’s Community Rugby Officer Damien Hicks.
Both participating schools are going forward to take part in the IRFU/Munster Rugby School 7’s competition for Under 18 girls commencing next week. This is a great outlet for girls to experience contact rugby in a safe conditioned environment.
If your school would like to take part in the rugby programme, focusing on either contact, touch or tag rugby please email info@munsterrugby.ie for more information.
