Highfield Contest For All Ireland League Title
10th April 2014 By Munster Rugby
Highfield will travel to Naas RFC this Saturday to face Old Belvedere in a bid to claim their first Women’s All Ireland League title (kick-off 3.30pm).
Second placed Highfield finished up just four points behind Old Belvedere in the league table with the top four teams entering into a play-off.
Belvedere took on last year’s winners UL Bohemian last Saturday to earn their place in the final with a 13-6 win at Anglesea Road.
Highfield, captained by Munster’s Heather O’Brien, claimed a 17-8 home victory over Blackrock College at Woodleigh Park, also played last Saturday, to secure a place in their third All Ireland league final.
Both finalists have never claimed the title and Highfield will be hoping to avenge their recent 26-18 All Ireland Cup loss to Galweigians at Tullamore RFC.
