Highfield Rugby Faculty Workshop
26th February 2015 By Munster Rugby
The Munster Rugby Development Department recently ran a coach development workshop in Highfield RFC as part of their integration of the IRFU Rugby faculty.
This workshop was part of the club's ongoing coach development programme with emphasis on developing core technical competencies across all stages of the game.
Munster Coach Development Manager Keith Murphy and Community Rugby Officer Finny O'Regan hosted the workshop which was the next stage of the club’s rugby development programme and added to the recent indoor tutorials presented on different areas of the game.
The club’s U-13 and U-14 players were on hand for the workshop with the main theme based on peer coach observation and feedback. The coaches at each age grade were tasked with developing a session based on a prescribed theme with areas such as ‘on the ball’, ‘in the space’, continuity, decision-making and general movement all coached by the respective coaches on the day. Coaches from the U-7s up to the U-16s were involved in the workshop and all interacted very positively to each other's development of the game.
Munster Rugby would like to thank Highfield RFC for hosting the workshop and the players for participating in the session.
