Holders Come Out On Top In SEAT Schools Cup

Crescent College Comprehensive served notice that they will be the team to beat in this year’s SEAT Munster Schools Senior Cup, as they bid for their third successive title after a deserved win over Christian Brothers College at Tom Clifford Park.

Crescent College Comprehensive 10 – 0 Christian Brothers College

When these sides met at the same stage last year, it was Crescent who won on a 39-0 scoreline, but it was never going to be as easy this time.

On a bitterly cold day Christians won the toss but opted to play into the elements in the opening half.

Crescent had the first scoring opportunity when Dylan Sheehan’s penalty effort went wide of the posts.

With the astute kicking of Sheehan, Christians were pinned back in their own half and great work by the Crescent pack was rewarded with a try by Greg O’Sullivan after twelve minutes.

Crescent continued to dominate and extended their lead on twenty three minutes, when from a five meter line out, O’Sullivan went blind and fed Caolan Moloney who touched down in the corner.

Even with the advantage of the wind and hail showers in the second half Christians were unable to penetrate the Crescent defence despite the best efforts of Evan Mintern, Cian Barry and Daire Feeney.
